The Third Training Event at TU Dresden, Dresden and Hamburg, GermanyP
From 21–25 September 2026, the ASSESS Doctoral Network gathered in Dresden and Hamburg, Germany, for its third training event, hosted by Technische Universität Dresden.
The week brought together the doctoral candidates for a series of lectures, research presentations, and technical discussions. Participants shared their research progress, exchanged ideas, and received valuable feedback from fellow researchers and experts.
The scientific programme covered a broad range of topics, including Structural Health Monitoring (SHM), Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), advanced signal processing, graph neural networks, composite manufacturing, wind energy, and life-cycle assessment.
Beyond the academic sessions, the programme included visits to WindEnergy Hamburg and the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Stade. These visits offered valuable insights into industrial applications and highlighted the connections between ongoing research and real-world engineering challenges.
The training event also provided an excellent opportunity to strengthen collaboration within the network, bringing together different research perspectives and encouraging knowledge exchange among the doctoral candidates.
